He’s not fit – Bailly openly challenged Solskjaer for selecting Maguire

Manchester United defender, Eric Bailly, openly questioned the club’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, for starting Harry Maguire in the Red Devils’ Premier League 4-2 defeat to Leicester City on October 16.

According to The Telegraph, Bailly subsequently challenged Solskjaer about his decision and asked the Norwegian ‘why he picked a centre-half who was not fit’.

The report added that some members of Man United’s squad have accused Solskjaer of ‘favouritism’ and have questioned why both Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard have been given few chances to make an impact for the club this season.

Bailly is among those in Man United’s squad who have struggled for regular playing time this season under Solskjaer.

The Ivory Coast international is yet to feature in the Premier League for Man United this season.

The former Villarreal centre-back was expecting to get his chance after the international break as Maguire was struggling with a calf injury.

Maguire took part in just one training session before he was picked by Solskjaer to start against his former club Leicester and the England international did not perform well against the Foxes.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer is now under intense pressure to keep his job following their humiliating Premier League 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool on Sunday.
